Location. Set on a 300-foot stretch of white-sand beach, the Vanderbilt Inn in Naples, Fla., offers oceanside accommodations with a tropical feeling. Adjacent to the Delnor Wiggins Pass State Recreational Beach, the hotel is 10 miles from downtown Naples. Southwest Florida Regional Airport is 30 miles away.
Hotel Features. Sporting a bright, island- like two-story facade and a Polynesian thatched roof, the Vanderbilt Inn offers an array of recreational activities. Guests can rent water sports equipment from the hotel or enjoy the heated pool. A spa tub and sun deck further add to the relaxing atmosphere. Overlooking the clear blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico and beneath a chickee (a thatched-roof structure), guests can seek refuge from the sun at Chickee on the Beach, a tiki bar and restaurant serving grilled sandwiches and wraps. Children eat free when accompanied by a paying adult. At the casual indoor Splash cafe, menu items include pecan waffles with hot apple compote. Other hotel amenities include a library, laundry facilities, gift shop and complimentary parking.
Guestrooms. With blond-wood furniture, pale walls and patios or balconies, guestrooms are airy and spacious. Refrigerators, safes and cable television are also included.
Expert Tip. The Delnor Wiggins Pass State Recreation area offers gulf swimming, fishing, picnicking and a boat ramp in a lush setting of sea oats, sea grapes, cabbage palms and mangroves.
