Opposite the beach on Ocean Drive, the pastel Leslie Hotel stands in the center of the roaring South Beach nightclub scene. Just a stroll through Lummus Park and guests will feel the white sand squishing between their toes on the very popular beach. The culturally inclined will find the Wolfsonian Museum three blocks away.
Guests can get a good taste of South Beach life and atmosphere by dining at the Leslie Cafe, which opens onto the sidewalk on Ocean Drive, great for people watching. Besides, the restaurant services boffo sandwiches, baby-back ribs, New York steak, lamb and salmon. For recreation, guests can rent volleyballs, Jet Skis, surf boards and boogie boards at nearby beachside shops. The 18-hole Bayshore Golf Course is just two miles from the Leslie.
The hotel's 47 guestrooms include hardwood floors, complimentary premium channels, city views, Art-Deco styling with pastel bedding and bright walls, ceiling fans, pedestal sinks, minibars, VCRs, and refrigerators.
This is a pretty funky place, in a good sense of the word. With a bright-yellow and white exterior, the hotel has appeared in numerous films, including The Birdcage. Guests are primarily leisure travelers, who check in at the registration desk tucked away in the back of the hotel. With advanced notice as early as possible, concierges, who are walking encyclopedias on South Beach, often arrange VIP access for hotel guests to the most popular area clubs, such as Prive, Pearl, and Crobar. So guests should treat them nice. Guests stand about as much of a chance as a snowball's chance on the beach of getting into the clubs on their own, especially during peak season of September through March.
